Expressing your opinion is an essential goal of communication. The more precise your language is, the easier it will be to explain yourself to another person; you will be able to tell them exactly what you have on your mind. Learning vocabulary will give you more words to pull from when expressing yourself.





Here is an article from the New York Times on the importance of literacy. I would like you to read the article and then post to the discussion I have started at the top of this page. As you read, think about the importance of literacy and communication and how vocabulary influences these two arenas. You are to answer the discussion forum question and use at least 2 words that contain this units vocabulary words in your answers. Since your vocabulary words are all prefixes, suffixes and roots for this Wiki, this task will be easier than you think.









You should also search for a recent article that deals with literacy or vocabulary in some way and post it to the discussion forum titled "Class Articles" at the top of this page. Your discussion responses on this page will be graded by the following rubric:
